Most loved for its versatility, the 1-8x riflescope is used for hunting, 3-gun and just about any other type of tactical type shooting. Its compact build in comparison to traditional riflescopes ensures seamless use on just about any setup.
There really isn’t much you cannot do with this optic combination, with shooters known to engage targets out to 300 meters or even further with this magnification range. Its 1x magnification base is completely at home on either AR or big bore rifles for those close quarter engagements and the 8x magnification at the top end makes hunting at further distances a breeze.
This optic is an asset for those in the bushveld hunting or culling scene. Glass quality is always a huge factor and even more so without an objective bell as in this case. Also, a reticle illumination bright enough to be illuminated in broad daylight is extremely important particularly when engaging dangerous game such as Cape Buffalo - because spotting your reticle at first glance is paramount.
As with all our comparisons the aim is to point out what is traditionally on offer by a specific sought after brand and to then illustrate in a like-for-like manner how the SouthPoint Optics offering not only stacks up, but in many instances exceeds that of the competitive product in terms of features and finally in value. In ALL instances the SouthPoint Optics price tag is more affordable and in this comparison it isn’t even close.
Compared below is the reticle offered in the big American brand’s 1-8x riflescope against the design feature’s of our own AR1 reticle in the AR8 riflescope - both having hold overs, though for quick spotting of the reticle at low magnification the USA brand uses extending bars on the sides and we use an illuminated ring. Here they are side-by-side with illumination on:

Here’s how their features stack up:

So then, why are you still paying more than you should when you have a brand designed and priced for you?
